Gwen specializes in theatrical fusion bellydance, blending elements from ballet and western theatrical dance forms with Egyptian bellydance into a unique, graceful and elegant fusion, and in the use of props including sword, stick, veils, fans and shamadan.
Performing and teaching bellydance for a decade and a half, she has studied Egyptian dance extensively and has learnt from many world-renowned master teachers and performers.Gwen began dancing at the age of 3, and has studied many styles including bellydance, ballet, modern dance, jazz, rock n’ roll, ballroom and burlesque.
Qualified as a bellydance teacher with JWAAD, Gwen trains bellydance teachers on the JWAAD Foundation and Diploma courses, and is training coordinator with the JWAAD Teachers’ Association.
She is known for elegant, inventive and dramatic choreography and performance. and has performed and taught at international events such as the International Bellydance Congress and Bellyfusions Festival Paris. She was a judge at the Cleopatra Award Competition for Fuson Bellydance (London 2011) and the Miss Bellydance UK 2010 and 2011 competitions, in 2011 judging contestants in both Oriental and Fusion dance. Gwen performs solo and also with the acclaimed Johara Dance Company.
Gwen is available for performances,and for individual and group tuitionthroughout the country in all styles of Egyptian bellydance. She is also available for consultations on stage makeup, costuming and presentation. Burlesque tuition is also available.
